Flying to Nepal through Chile
Our very coordinated launch of the inaugural corneal transplant service in Western Nepal was nearly hijacked by the Chilean Embassy employees. Despite the complexities of procuring many pieces of donated eye surgery equipment from various individuals and organizations as well as nine donated corneas from various state eye banks, the simple delivery of our passports to the Indian tourist visa service in San Francisco went strangely awry.

Being Blind Around Monkeys: Guard Your Chapattis
The rural Geta Eye Hospital is very animal friendly. Dr. Bidya has a deer he has raised from a fawn that walks the grounds along with chickens, dogs, and lots of monkey.
Maya's Story
Maya, a petite fourteen year old, wearing a red knit cap and a Route 66 sweatshirt, waited in the long line of patients hopeful to be chosen for a corneal transplant this morning. Despite her pensive countenance, Maya says she is not scared of surgery. Her left eye is a warm chocolate brown while her right eye isĀ milky-blue and opaque, clouded by a diffuse corneal scar.
