My undergraduate degree is from the University of Wisconsin. I subsequently earned an MS in physiology from the University of California, Davis and a Doctor of Optometry at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. I am a fellow of the American Academy of and Optometry.
Contact lenses are my passion, and I have over 25 years of expertise in fitting specialty contact lenses, including the new computer designed scleral lenses. I am often challenged with hard to fit cases referred to me by colleagues and it is extremely rewarding to be able to help these patients. In addition to being a board member of the Pacific Laser Eye Center, I enjoy co-managing LASIK candidates who are eager to eliminate contacts or glasses.
Community ophthalmology allows me to assist those less fortunate who need eye care. For 20 years I served as the Director of Vision Services at the Santa Rosa Community Health Centers. As a result of my community activism I have been awarded:
- California Optometric Association, Young Optometrist of the Year
- American Optometric Association Optometric Recognition Award
- Health Leadership Award, Southwest Community Health
I am a musician, playing drums, percussion and singing with bands for the past 30 years. I enjoy hiking, landscaping and camping in my spare time. I live in Santa Rosa with Carol, my wife, Sarah, my daughter and two large dogs. I have one son in college at UC Santa Barbara and another working in Davis, CA.
