BOTOX® COSMETIC
BOTOX® Services Now Offered at ECI
The Eye Care Institute has added BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments to our comprehensive eye care services. Robert Kersten, MD, F.A.C.S., and Kalane Wong, M.D., now offer an easy solution to patients who feel their frown lines and the wrinkles around their eyes make them look unapproachable, tired, or older. BOTOX® injections are a simple, non-surgical, in-office procedure to reduce facial wrinkles and create a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
About BOTOX®
BOTOX® injections are currently the most common cosmetic procedure performed by physicians in the United States. BOTOX® is a purified protein that has been extensively researched and used medically for over 15 years. It works by preventing the release of a substance that causes muscular contraction. The most popular treatment areas for BOTOX® are the “frown lines” (between the eyebrows) and "crows' feet" (to the side of the eyes).
Convenient Appointments
At ECI, we want to help you to see better and to look better. Hard to find time to do something just for yourself? Dr. Wong offers convenient Friday lunchtime BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment appointments. Since there’s no “down time”, you can go immediately back to work or to your normal daily activities. We can also schedule BOTOX® appointments at other times that are convenient for you.
Possible Side Effects & Safety Information
The BOTOX® procedure generally involves minimal, brief discomfort. Patients usually notice a reduction in wrinkling and furrowing within a day or two, with the effect lasting approximately 4 months. Possible side effects include mild swelling and tenderness at the injection site. Ten percent of patients can experience a mild brief headache.
As with most procedures, there is also a possibility of bleeding and/or bruising at the injection site after treatment. To minimize this, it is advised that patients consider stopping the following medications one to two weeks prior to treatment:
- Advil
- Aleve
- Aspirin products, including Bufferin and most Anacin products
If you have any heart-related health problems, please consult your cardiologist prior to stopping any medications.
